Jane Williams, Managing & Artistic Director of Mockingbird Academy
Jane trained originally at Mountview Theatre School in London and has an M.A in Performing Arts. She has performed in the West End and most major theatres in the UK. Recognized as a Specialist Leader in the Performing Arts, she has established and been Artistic Director of numerous Youth Theatres. Jane holds an MA in Performing Arts from Middlesex University and established Mockingbird Academy in 2015, after arriving in Doha in 2013.
Since arriving in Doha, Jane has established links with LAMDA, and is one of two recognized Centers in Qatar for LAMDA examinations. Jane played Madame Thenardier in Les Miserables in the 2014 Doha Players production and have choreographed the QBBF Poppy Ball performances both in 2016 & 18.
Lizzie Hake, Acting & Musical Theatre Coach
Lizzie is a trained dancer. At a young age of 5 she studied classical ballet, jazz and tap, taking RAD and I.S.T.D examinations up to advanced level. She continued her training at London college of dance, where she found her love of Contemporary dance. She then furthered her training at The Laban Centre, London. She then pursued teaching dance within the community, working with young children and adults of all abilities. As a dancer Lizzie was fortunate to perform in London and choreograph in theatres in and across London.
Lizzie is a qualified teacher and has been teaching for 14 years from age groups, 5 to 18 years old. Along her teaching career she has gained experience teaching children Drama at KS 1-3.
Since living in Doha she has choreographed for the Doha Players, Some like it hot, QBBF Poppy Ball and Mockingbird.
Lizzie is very excited about the future of Mockingbird, working alongside an amazing team and dedicated, talented children.
Katie Davies, Acting & Singing Coach
Director of Hereford Musical Theatre Company from 1989 to 2016.
LAMDA & Trinity Guildhall Musical Theatre Foundation up to Degree level 7 & 8.
DANCE – I.S.T.D and R.A.D Trained Intermediate and Associates in Ballet, Tap and Modern Dance.
Katie has lived and worked professionally in London within the TV and Theatre industry with 10 years’ experience from 1994 to 2004 working with independent TV companies such as Shine Limited (Elisabeth Murdoch CEO), Emmerdale (Yorkshire Television), Tweenies, Planet 24 (Big Breakfast) and the situation comedy, ‘Stella’.
Following a professional television career Katie completed her MA in Drama and currently teach Performing Arts here in Qatar.
Since childhood, Katie have been involved in dramatic art and have performed extensively with Theatre companies such as Bottleneck Theatre Company, most recently featuring in ‘Girls’ Night Out’ and portraying Judy Denmark in ‘Ruthless’.
As a professional musical Theatre vocalist Katie feels honoured to be working alongside Jane and Mockingbird Academy and is extremely proud of all the students hard work and dedication.
Claire Garton-Williams, Administrator
Claire has lived in Qatar for 3 years and worked as Administrator for the Doha Players Community Theatre Group, for almost 12 of those. She recently stepped down as Administrator as she would now like to reduce her working hours to part-time with Mockingbird Youth Theatre. Whilst at DP, Elaine worked with very little supervision, overseeing all aspects of the administration including liaison with various government departments regarding licenses, venue liaison and membership registration. She was responsible for recording all income and expenditure and reporting to the Doha Players Board members. In addition to her role as Administrator, Elaine took on the voluntary role of Producer for several DP productions. This role required her to liaise with all the heads of teams, working on each project.
