Jane Williams

Managing & Artistic Director of Mockingbird Academy

Jane trained originally at Mountview Theatre School in London and has an M.A in Performing Arts. She has performed in the West End and most major theatres in the UK. Recognised as a Specialist Leader in the Performing Arts, she has established and been Artistic Director of numerous Youth Theatres; Jane holds an MA in Performing Arts from Middlesex University.

Since arriving in Doha in 2013, Jane has not only established Mockingbird Academy in 2015, but has also formed links with LAMDA, and is one of two recognised centers in Qatar for LAMDA examinations. Jane played Madame Thenardier in Les Miserables in the 2014 Doha Players production and has choreographed the QBBF Poppy Ball performances in 2016, 2017 and 2019.

Lizzie Hake

Dance, Acting & Musical Theatre Coach

Lizzie is a trained dancer. At a young age of 5 she studied classical ballet, jazz and tap, taking RAD and I.S.T.D examinations up to advanced level. She continued her training at London college of dance, where she found her love of Contemporary dance. She then furthered her training at The Laban Centre, London. She then pursued teaching dance within the community, working with young children and adults of all abilities. As a dancer Lizzie was fortunate to perform in London and choreograph in theatres in and across London.

Lizzie is a qualified teacher and has been teaching for 14 years from age groups, 5 to 18 years old. Along her teaching career she has gained experience teaching children Drama at KS 1-3. Since living in Doha she has choreographed for the Doha Players, Some like it hot, QBBF Poppy Ball and Mockingbird.
Lizzie is very excited about the future of Mockingbird, working alongside an amazing team and dedicated, talented children.

Claire Garton-Williams


Claire has lived in Qatar for 4 years and joined Mockingbird Youth Theatre as our administrator for almost 3 years ago. Claire has experience or working with and Training young people and adults ranging from Early years to Professional training, but her background is predominantly Business Management and Design.

Claire’s role includes liaising with parents, students and the team to ensure a smooth transition term to term, as well as helping to organise classes and our legendary shows. Claire has a passion for supporting individual growth and finding the best route to access the classes that suit the students individual skill set.
